In Leakina’s Own Words
Who I am Now!
My name is Phorn Leakina, I'm 18 years old. I am a freshman student at Western University. In the future, I want to be a Teacher of English.
Better Than Yesterday
I have lived in LA since 2017, and I have changed a lot. I become a studious student. Also, I am working harder and more courageous than before. I also build my confidence and sense of responsibility. I have learnt a lot from LA, English, computer, and soft skills. Furthermore, since I stayed in LA, I was taught to believe in people around me, be honest, and help each other. All of these reasons help me grow a lot to get and know new experiences and new things that I have not met before.
Why Teaching English as a Foreign Language?
Hard work really pays me off. I took the scholarship exam and was awarded 50% scholarship by Western University, majoring Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Teaching career is on the top of my list because I love to share my knowledge, my experiences or everything to the people to develop them so they don't be like some old generation, especially me in the past. In addition, I think that children always love having fun, so do I. Vitally, education is the key to a meaningful life, and a teacher can teach and lead a lot of students to become good youth and future leaders in the community.
Big Dream for the Community
After I graduate, I will go back and teach the children in my village with my knowledge and all my experience I have to them. Additionally, I expect that I can share my knowledge that I have learnt with the old generation if I can because I want to change their old perception "Learning is for only students" to “Learning is for everyone regardless their age.”
