Grade 9 Field Trip
Each year, we sponsor an educational field trip for graduating 9th grade students to Phnom Penh.
On March 23rd, 46 students visited the Royal Palace, the National Museum of Cambodia, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (the former S21 torture interrogation center--one of 189 documented centers during the Khmer Rouge genocide), and the Aeon Mall3, where they had lunch and explored the vast shopping mall.
Most of these students have never traveled more than a few miles from their village home. It's always wonderful to give them the opportunity to have such a varied educational experience: to learn the history of their past empires at the National Museum, to understand better the devastating impact of the genocide, to witness the grandeur of the Royal Palace, and to taste new dishes and shop vicariously at the classy Aeon Mall. And, we couldn't provide this each year without the continuing support from all of our donors!
